The xWellington Dukes had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Hamilton Red Wings. Erick Delaurentis had two goals and one assist to lead xWellington. Delaurentis scored the first of his two goals at 2:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xWellington. Chad Thibodeau picked up the assist. Delaurentis' next tally made the score 4-0 xWellington with 16:17 left in the second period. Trevor Cope provided the assist. The Dukes put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Hamilton to score on any of its three power plays. The Red Wings were unable to stop xWellington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dukes eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. xWellington surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Dukes average 3.6 goals per contest. xWellington also got points from Luc Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Mike Robinson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Abbott Girduckis also scored for xWellington. In addition, xWellington received assists from Andrew McCann and Joe McKeown, who contributed one a piece and Kyle Paat and Austin Broadhurst, who each chipped in two. Hamilton was helped by Niko Porikos, who had one goal. Porikos scored 9:34 into the second period to make the score 4-2 xWellington. Adam Burnett picked up the assist. Hamilton also got a goal from Liam Bird as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Ryan Laufman, who had one. xWellington's Taylor Welsh stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Dukes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mark Sinclair rejected 35 shots on goal for the Red Wings. Hamilton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
