Toronto beats xNorth York 4-3 after comeback scare

The Toronto Junior Canadiens survived a determined comeback attempt by the xNorth York Rangers on the way to a 4-3 win.

Toronto took a 4-2 lead during the second period, only to have xNorth York storm back on a Brandon Gaudette goal 14:52 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Daniel Harquail had two goals to lead the Junior Canadiens to victory.

Toronto forced the Rangers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 41 shots and forcing 37 saves. Gianluca Baggetta made 14 stops and Jason Pucciarelli made 23.

Toronto also got a goal from Anthony Repaci as well. In addition, Toronto received assists from Nicholas Jarzabek, who had three and Aaron Thow, Mark Spadafora, and Cody Thompson, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Canadiens were unable to stop xNorth York from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

xNorth York was led by Liam Kerins, who racked up two goals and one assist. Kerins scored the first of his two goals at 4:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Toronto. Valadao Adam picked up the assist. Kerins' next tally made the score 3-2 Toronto with 12:52 left in the second period. Kyle Thacker assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for xNorth York were Matthew Whittaker, who had one.

Toronto's Daniel Lopapa stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Junior Canadiens incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Rangers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For xNorth York, Thacker and Tye Campbell were ejected from the contest.
