Georgetown holds on for 5-4 win against xKingston

The xKingston Voyageurs tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Georgetown Raiders would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

Georgetown made the score 5-2 on a goal by Steve Hladin at 11:01 in the second period, and xKingston got as close as 5-4 when Adam Brady scored 16:48 into the third period.

The Voyageurs were unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Georgetown eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The defensemen of the Raiders were also effective in xKingston's zone, and came away with three goals. Georgetown was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 30 penalty minutes.

The Raiders were led by Steve Midensky, who registered three goals. Georgetown also got a goal from John Adams as well. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Richard Court, who had one, Jordan Brown, who had three, and Ryan Smith, Brendan Jacome, and Steven Mueller, who each chipped in two.

The Voyageurs forced Georgetown goalie Michael McNiven to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. xKingston was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances.

The Voyageurs were led by Brett Seney, who racked up one goal and two assists. Seney scored 3:46 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Georgetown. Alex Tonge provided the assist. xKingston additionally got points from Brady, who also had one goal and one assist and Tonge, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cole Bolton also scored for xKingston. Other players who recorded assists for xKingston were Michael Casale, who had one and Michael Crocock, who had two.

Michael McNiven made 33 saves for the Raiders on 37 shots. Georgetown registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Court was ejected from the game. xKingston's Alex Brooks-Potts stopped 37 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Voyageurs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
