St. Michaels holds on for 7-5 win against Georgetown

The Georgetown Raiders tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the St. Michaels Buzzers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 7-5.

St. Michaels made the score 7-4 on a goal by Thomas Beretta at 19:17 in the third period, and Georgetown got as close as 7-5 when Scott Emerson scored 19:40 into the third period.

Angelpooulos Peter had a great game for the Buzzers, netting two goals. Peter's tallies came at 2:25 into the second period to make the score 4-3 St. Michaels and 17:19 into the third to make the score 6-3 St. Michaels.

St. Michaels made Raiders' netminders to work between the pipes, ripping 39 shots and forcing 32 saves. Michael Singh made 19 stops and Michael McNiven made 13. The Buzzers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. St. Michaels has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. The Buzzers got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. St. Michaels was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 32 penalty minutes.

St. Michaels additionally got points from Jake Clements, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Ian Edmondson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Matt Alvaro, who also tallied one goal and one assist. St. Michaels also got a goal from Noah Jordan as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Joseph Berton, who had two and David Italiano, Jake Evans, Matt Pepler, CJ Shugart, Bron Loiselle, Mike Lansdowne, and Victor Adamo, who contributed one a piece.

The Raiders' offense rang up 41 shots on the Buzzers' net. The defensemen of Georgetown were also effective in St. Michaels' zone, and came away with two goals.

The Raiders were led by Anthony Marra, who registered two goals. Marra scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:27 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Georgetown had gained a power play chance when Pepler was whistled for hooking. Liam Board picked up the assist. Marra's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 19:35 left in the second period. Steve Hladin assisted on the tally. Georgetown also got points from Nicholas Palumbo, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Jordan Brown also scored for Georgetown. More assists for Georgetown came via Ryan Smith, Brendan Jacome, Kyle Allan, John Adams, and Steven Mueller, who each chipped in one.

Adamo rejected 36 shots on goal for the Buzzers. St. Michaels registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Raiders incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
