Jophrey Gregoire was superb between the pipes for the Newmarket Hurricanes, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the xCobourg Cougars.

Justin Maiolino had two goals to lead Newmarket to victory. Maiolino found the back of the net 1:39 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Newmarket and again while 19:27 into the third to make the score 3-0 Newmarket.

The Hurricanes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Newmarket's offense rang up 31 shots on xCobourg's net.

Cameron Nicoll also scored for Newmarket. More assists for Newmarket came via Taylor Joseph and Nik Coric, who contributed one a piece and Curtis Harvey and Trevor Petersen, who each chipped in two.

The Cougars did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. xCobourg averages 3.2 goals per game.

Gregoire recorded 27 saves for the Hurricanes. Newmarket incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nathan Perry made 28 saves for the Cougars on 30 shots. xCobourg incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
