Early goals doom Oakville, falls to Buffalo, 11-2

The Oakville Blades fell behind early, and the Buffalo Jr. Sabres kept piling on the points on the way to an 11-2 victory.

Tim Kielich had two goals and one assist to lead Buffalo. Kielich scored the first of his two goals at 13:29 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Buffalo. Michael Ederer picked up the assist. Kielich's next tally made the score 9-2 Buffalo with 10:33 left in the third period. Tony DeVito assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Sabres made Oakville's goaltenders to work between the pipes, firing 39 shots and forcing 28 saves. Brendan McGlynn made 10 stops and Mark Manolescu made 18. Buffalo surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Jr. Sabres have scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Buffalo additionally got points from Ederer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ryan Kuhn, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Nick Desimone, who also had two goals and one assist, Max Mikowski, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Nathan Black, who also registered one goal and one assist. Buffalo also had goals scored by Wilson Vershay and Michael APJ Faliero, who scored one goal each. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Ryan Schmelzer, who had two, Pat Egan, who had three, and Josh Gabriel, Nico Gonzalez, Dylan Howatt, and Nolan Sheeran, who each chipped in one.

The Blades were helped by Ross Sloan, who grabbed one goal. Sloan scored 11:45 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Austin Clapham provided the assist. Oakville also got a goal from Dalton Bew as well. More assists for Oakville came via Kris Bennet and Matthew McLeod, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo's Joseph Pianta stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Jr. Sabres incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Oakville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Blades, Vince Palermo was ejected from the game.
