Huge game by Tutton boosts Pickering over Toronto, 7-3

The Pickering Panthers had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the Toronto Junior Canadiens.

Pickering got the win behind a great game by Brodie Tutton, who had two goals and one assist. Tutton scored the first of his two goals at 15:37 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Pickering. Doug Carter provided the assist. Tutton's next tally made the score 5-2 Pickering with 19:06 left in the third period. The Panthers had taken the advantage when Toronto's Anthony Repaci got sent off for tripping. Nicholas Lepone assisted on the tally.

The Junior Canadiens were unable to stop Pickering from sending pucks towards the net, and the Panthers eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Pickering outdid its season average for goals scored. The Panthers average 3.1 goals per game.

Pickering also got points from Lepone, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Keegan Ackerland, who also had one goal and one assist. Pickering also had goals scored by Chris Sekelyk, Michael Walker, and Robert Cammalleri, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Mason Evans, Cam Palmer, Mike Nedoszytko, and Michael Giacometti, who each chipped in one.

Toronto's offense rang up 35 shots on Pickering's net.

The Junior Canadiens were helped by Cody Thompson, who finished with one goal. Thompson scored 5:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Daniel Harquail provided the assist. Others who scored for Toronto included Ryan MacSpadyen and Connor Prudames, who each put in one. In addition, Toronto received assists from Josh Finkelstein, Jake Walman, Aaron Spivak, Michael Cuddemi, and Nicholas Favaro, who contributed one a piece.

Steven Dombrosky rejected 32 shots on goal for the Panthers. Pickering incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Panthers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mark Tenuta was ejected from the game. Daniel Lopapa made 31 saves for Toronto on 38 shots. The Junior Canadiens incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
