xWellington blows out Newmarket, 4-1

The xWellington Dukes were firing on all cylinders against the Newmarket Hurricanes, and when the final buzzer sounded Dukes emerged with a 4-1 win.

Newmarket was stymied by xWellington netminder Tyson Teichmann, who stopped 39 shots during the victory. The solid play of Teichmann will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.5.

The Dukes were led by Andrew Coupland, who had one goal. Coupland scored 6:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 xWellington. Luc Brown assisted on the tally.

xWellington made the Hurricanes' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 32 shots and forcing 28 saves. Jophrey Gregoire made 11 stops and Alex Bishop made 17. The Dukes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

xWellington also got points from Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Abbott Girduckis, who also finished with one goal and one assist. xWellington also got a goal from Joe McKeown as well. Other players who recorded assists for xWellington were Mike Robinson and Erick Delaurentis, who each chipped in one and Trevor Cope and Kyle Paat, who contributed two a piece.

Newmarket could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Hurricanes put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. xWellington was unable to stop Newmarket from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Newmarket was led by Ryan Kruss, who scored the team's only goal. Kruss scored 5:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 xWellington. Justin Maiolino provided the assist.

The Dukes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Hurricanes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
