Whitby blows out Pickering, 6-1

The Whitby Fury had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Pickering Panthers.

Whitby's Tyler Feaver was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Feaver will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.29.

Taylor Best was all over the ice for the Fury, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Best scored on the power play 6:58 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Whitby. Whitby had taken the advantage when Pickering's Ian Chen APM got sent off for holding. Mike Panowyk picked up the assist.

The Fury stifled the Panthers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pickering was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Fury eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Whitby also got points from Will Ward, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Greg Milner, who also finished with two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Whitby included Henry Thompson and Jeremy Wu, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Tyler Park, Jeff Murray, Marco Azzano, and Dakota Kettrick, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Pickering was led by Mike Nedoszytko, who scored the team's only goal. Nedoszytko scored 18:06 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mark Tenuta assisted on the tally.

Whitby incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Steven Dombrosky recorded 39 saves for the Panthers. Pickering registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
