Toronto Lakeshore uses early goal to top Stouffville, 3-1

Doug Bonar gave the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots the lead in the first period, and the Stouffville Spirit was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-1.

A goal 3:16 into the the first period by Bonar proved to be the game winner, and powered Toronto Lakeshore to the victory Jacob Hayhurst picked up the assist.

Bonar was all over the ice for the Patriots, as he registered two goals in the win.

Stouffville was stymied by Toronto Lakeshore netminder Evan Buitenhuis, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Buitenhuis certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.81 entering the contest.

The Patriots' offense rang up 47 shots on the Spirit's net.

Nicholas Ursitti also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. In addition, Toronto Lakeshore received assists from Marcus Rose, who had two and Niko Kovachis, Rory Bell, and Michael Prapavessis, who contributed one a piece.

Stouffville was led by Michael Morgan, who scored the team's only goal. Morgan scored 18:31 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Toronto Lakeshore. Kyler Challis assisted on the tally.

Toronto Lakeshore incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tim Bester recorded 44 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Spirit ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Christopher Brill-Morgan was ejected from the game.
