xAurora erases deficit to stun Milton, 6-5

The xAurora Tigers rallied from two goals down to secure a 6-5 win over the Milton Icehawks.

xAurora let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Tigers took a 2-1 advantage on a power play goal by Robert Angiolella at 9:39 in the first period. xAurora found itself down 5-3 after Milton's Alex Riche put the puck home at 18:12 in the second period. After tying things up at 5-5 on a goal by Michael Laidley at 4:08 in the third, the Tigers got the game-winner from Laidley at 11:22 in the third period.

With three goals and three assists between them, Laidley and Angiolella teamed up to power xAurora's offense. Laidley finished with two goals and Angiolella also added one goal and three assists.

The Icehawks were unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and xAurora eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Tigers' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. xAurora is averaging 2.2 goals against for the season.

xAurora additionally got points from Taylor McCloy, who also had one goal and one assist, Kory Kennedy, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Angiolella, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. xAurora also got a goal from Calvin Higley as well. More assists for xAurora came via Callum Fryer, Michael Keenan, and Kyle Liu, who each chipped in one and Austin Rigney and Dylan Sikura, who contributed two a piece.

Milton was led by Jeremy Gottzmann, who registered two goals and two assists. Gottzmann scored the first of his two goals at 1:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Milton. Kane Elliot provided the assist. Gottzmann's next tally made the score 3-2 Milton with 12:19 left in the second period. The Icehawks found themselves down a man on Daniel Poutscongas's roughing. Shane Bennett assisted on the tally. Jake Baird also scored for Milton. In addition, Milton received assists from Mitch Graham and Josh Pace, who each chipped in one.

Kevin Entmaa rejected 20 shots on goal for the Tigers. xAurora incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Milton's Ben Blacker stopped 35 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Icehawks incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
