Georgetown hangs on, beats xAurora 2-1

The Georgetown Raiders took the lead against the xAurora Tigers in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-1 victory.

Richard Court provided Georgetown with the game-winning tally when he scored 13:25 into the the first period. Ryan Smith assisted on the tally.

The Raiders were led by goalie Michael McNiven, who finished with 35 saves while allowing one goal. McNiven certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.5 entering the contest.

Georgetown was led by Liam Board, who tallied one goal. Board scored 3:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown. Anthony Marra picked up the assist.

The Raiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow xAurora to score on any of its three power plays.

Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Jordan Brown, who had two.

The Tigers' offense operated below they season average. xAurora puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. The Tigers forced Georgetown goalie McNiven to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

xAurora was led by Tyler Boston, who scored the team's only goal. Boston scored 8:47 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Georgetown. Drake Board provided the assist.

The Raiders incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Andy Munroe rejected 20 shots on goal for the Tigers.
