Whitby downs Newmarket in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Whitby Fury pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Newmarket Hurricanes on a clutch goal by Marco Azzano.

Whitby almost relinquished a four-score lead. The Fury made the score 4-0 on a goal by Mitchell Burghardt APJ at 5:32 in the third period. Newmarket got to within 4-3 on a goal by Justin Maiolino at 18:47 in the third period.

Whitby stifled the Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Fury's offense rang up 41 shots on Newmarket's net.

Whitby was led by Taylor Best, who grabbed three goals. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Jonathan OHara and Adam Clements, who each chipped in one and Mike Panowyk, Jeff Murray, and Greg Milner, who contributed two a piece.

The Fury were unable to stop the Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Newmarket eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Newmarket also got points from Cameron Nicoll, who also had one goal and one assist and Curtis Harvey, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Newmarket came via Trevor Petersen and Ian Farrell, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Feaver recorded 30 saves for Whitby. The Fury incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Bo Bessette made 37 saves for the Hurricanes on 41 shots. Newmarket incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
