Hamilton vanquishes Buffalo in shootout, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Hamilton Red Wings defeated the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The two teams needed 16 turns to complete the shootout. Buffalo's shootout goals were scored by Michael Ederer and Dylan Howatt. In addition to the clincher, Hamilton got shootout goals from Cole Poliziani and Luke Sinclair.

The Red Wings came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Hamilton trailed 2-0 after a power play goal by the Jr. Sabres' Ederer at 10:21 in the first period. The Red Wings knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Ryan Laufman at 11:16 in the second period.

Laufman had two goals to lead Hamilton to victory.

The Red Wings kept Buffalo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Joseph Pianta made 28 saves on 31 shots.

More assists for Hamilton came via Riley Dunda, Poliziani, Sinclair, and Mitch Reid, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Sabres were held below their usual level of production. Buffalo puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. The Jr. Sabres' offense rang up 42 shots on Hamilton's net.

Buffalo also got a goal from Darren McCormick as well. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Ryan Schmelzer, Max Mikowski, Nolan Sheeran, and Pat Egan, who contributed one a piece.

The Red Wings' Mark Sinclair stopped 40 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Hamilton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Buffalo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
