Mississauga rides Lepore to victory over Toronto Lakeshore, 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Alex Lepore helped the Mississauga Chargers defeat the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, 2-1.

Mississauga was paced by Patrick Mooney, who registered one goal. Mooney scored 6:38 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississauga. Trevor Warnaar assisted on the tally.

The Chargers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Toronto Lakeshore to score on any of its four power plays. Mississauga kept the Patriots' goalie busy throughout the game, and Evan Buitenhuis made 33 saves on 35 shots.

Zackery Landsfield also scored for Mississauga. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Vince Figliomeni and Lucas Venuto, who contributed one a piece.

Toronto Lakeshore was held below its usual level of production. The Patriots average 3.8 goals per game. Toronto Lakeshore's offense rang up 31 shots on the Chargers' net.

The Patriots were led by Luke Carter, who scored the team's only goal. Carter scored 17:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Quinn Syrydiuk provided the assist.

Lepore rejected 30 shots on goal for Mississauga. The Chargers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Toronto Lakeshore incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
