Toronto Lakeshore downs Trenton in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Westwood Arena Sat, Jan 18, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots' Andreas Tsogkas scored 4:21 into overtime to beat the Trenton Golden Hawks, 3-2 (OT). Toronto Lakeshore got the win on the strength of a great game by Doug Bonar, who had one goal and two assists. Bonar scored 10:51 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Michael Prapavessis assisted on the tally. The Patriots stifled Trenton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toronto Lakeshore's offense rang up 38 shots on the Golden Hawks' net. Toronto Lakeshore also got a goal from Niko Kovachis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Rory Bell, who had one. Trenton did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Golden Hawks put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Trenton kept the Patriots' goalie busy throughout the game, and Evan Buitenhuis made 35 saves on 37 shots. The Golden Hawks were helped by Zach de Concilys, who had one goal. De Concilys scored 9:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Tyler Donaldson picked up the assist. Mathew Thompson also scored for Trenton. In addition, Trenton received assists from Danny Liscio, Nick Boddy, and Nick Santoro, who contributed one a piece. Toronto Lakeshore incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Patriots ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matthew Marchese was ejected from the game. Connor Hughes recorded 35 saves for Trenton. The Golden Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
