Trenton holds on for 4-3 win against Newmarket

The Newmarket Hurricanes tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Trenton Golden Hawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Trenton made the score 3-1 on a goal by Mathew Thompson at 19:13 in the second period, and Newmarket got as close as 3-2 when Trevor Petersen scored 2:47 into the third period.

Brady Wiffen had two goals to lead the Golden Hawks to victory. Wiffen's tallies came at 2:50 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and 9:39 into the third to make the score 4-3 Trenton.

Trenton also got a goal from Ryan Hunter as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Chrisitian Lloyd, who had two and Tyler Mayea, Dylan Savory, Danny Liscio, Brett Seldon, Zach de Concilys, and Brian Hurlimann, who contributed one a piece.

The Hurricanes' offense rang up 35 shots on Trenton's net.

Ryan Kruss also scored for Newmarket. More assists for Newmarket came via Oshowy Jordan, Cameron Nicoll, and Ian Farrell, who each chipped in one.

Denny Dubblestyne rejected 32 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks. Trenton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jophrey Gregoire made 26 saves for Newmarket on 30 shots. The Hurricanes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
