Teichmann leads Wellington to shutout victory over Newmarket

The Wellington Dukes used a sparkling performance by Tyson Teichmann to take down the Newmarket Hurricanes, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Wellington's 4-0 shutout victory.

Newmarket's power play was ineffective against the Dukes' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Wellington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hurricanes to score on any of their eight power plays. The Dukes featured an improved defense during the game. Wellington averages 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Dukes' offense rang up 38 shots on Newmarket's net.

Wellington was helped by Erick Delaurentis, who tallied one goal and one assist. Delaurentis scored 10:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Luc Brown picked up the assist. Wellington also got points from Brown, who also registered one goal and one assist. Steven Deeg also scored for Wellington. In addition, Wellington received assists from Trevor Cope, who had two and Jacob Panetta, Mike Soucier, and Alex Carnevale, who contributed one a piece.

The Hurricanes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Newmarket's offense operated below it season average. The Hurricanes put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. The Dukes were unable to stop Newmarket from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Teichmann rejected 32 shots on goal for Wellington. The Dukes incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Bo Bessette recorded 34 saves for Newmarket. The Hurricanes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
