Kingston survives Toronto comeback, wins 6-4

The Toronto Junior Canadiens tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Kingston Voyageurs held on for a 6-4 victory.

A goal by Adam Moodie put Kingston up 6-2 in the third period, but Toronto pulled to within two on Jake Gilmour's tally 13:33 into the third period.

The Voyageurs got the win thanks to a great game by Alex Tonge, who had one goal and two assists. Tonge scored on the power play 10:39 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Kingston had taken the advantage when the Junior Canadiens' Jake Walman got sent off for interference. Patrick Volpe provided the assist.

The Voyageurs forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Kingston had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Voyageurs forced Toronto's netminders to work without much rest, totaling 38 shots and forcing 32 saves. Nathan Colitto made 24 stops and Daniel Lopapa made eight. Kingston surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Voyageurs average 3.7 goals per game.

Kingston also got points from Brandon O Quinn, who also registered one goal and one assist and Spencer Green, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mason Nowak also scored for Kingston. In addition, Kingston received assists from Adam Brady, who had three and Blake ONeill, Cole Bolton, Brody Heleno, and Michael Casale, who contributed one a piece.

The Junior Canadiens found themselves short handed often, totaling 17 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays.

Toronto was led by Anthony Repaci, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Repaci scored 4:26 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Kingston. Nicholas Jarzabek picked up the assist. Toronto also got a goal from Will Lawrence as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto were Mark Spadafora, Connor Prudames, Aaron Spivak, and Michael Cuddemi, who each chipped in one.

Sam Tanguay made 21 saves for Kingston on 25 shots. For the Voyageurs, Brett Seney and Bolton were ejected from the contest. The Junior Canadiens registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Toronto, Aaron Thow was ejected from the game.
