McNiven leads Georgetown to shutout victory over Trenton

Michael McNiven recorded a shutout against the Trenton Golden Hawks as the Georgetown Raiders picked up a 4-0 win.

Georgetown was led by Steve Midensky, who had one goal. Midensky scored 10:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Gavin Shantz picked up the assist.

The Raiders' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Trenton power plays. Georgetown forced Trenton goalie Denny Dubblestyne to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Raiders were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Georgetown also got points from Steven Mueller, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Georgetown included Ryan Smith and Liam Board, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Tyler MacPherson, Steve Hladin, Richard Court, and John Adams, who each chipped in one.

The Golden Hawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Trenton averages 4.1 goals per game. The Golden Hawks' offense rang up 33 shots on Georgetown's net. Trenton struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.

Michael McNiven made 33 saves for the Raiders on 33 shots. Dubblestyne rejected 27 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks.
