Trenton beats Oakville 7-1 as Kinsella gets hat trick

Ryan Kinsella netted a hat trick to lead the Trenton Golden Hawks over the Oakville Blades, 7-1.

Kinsella's first goal came 1:52 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:35 into the first and at 19:05 into the second.

Trenton gained an early advantage, leading 5-0 by the end of the first period.

The Golden Hawks' penalty kill excelled, as Trenton gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:39 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Golden Hawks were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Trenton surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Golden Hawks stifled Oakville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Trenton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Golden Hawks average 4.3 goals per contest.

Trenton additionally got points from Mathew Thompson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tyler Donaldson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Dylan Savory, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Trenton also got a goal from Dalton Lawrence as well. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Fabrizio Ricci, Danny Liscio, and Hunter Baker, who each chipped in one and Bobby Polachek and Chrisitian Lloyd, who contributed two a piece.

The Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Oakville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blades average 3.1 goals per game.

Denny Dubblestyne made 21 saves for Trenton on 22 shots. For the Golden Hawks, Brian Hurlimann was ejected from the game. Oakville's starting goalie, Mark Manolescu, made eight saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Brendan McGlynn, who stopped 13 shots. The Blades ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Oakville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sean Kohler was ejected from the game.
