Bzowey's goals lift Oakville to 6-3 victory over StouffvilleSixteen Mile Sports Complex Fri, Dec 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Mark Bzowey had two goals to lead the Oakville Blades to a 6-3 victory over the Stouffville Spirit. Bzowey scored at 4:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville and again while 17:55 into the first to make the score 2-1 Oakville.Oakville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Stouffville to score on any of its three power plays. The Blades' offense rang up 35 shots on the Spirit's net. Oakville found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Blades average 3.2 goals per contest. Oakville also got points from Matthew McLeod, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Dalton Bew, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Oakville also had goals scored by Kris Bennet and Ross Sloan, who each put in one. More assists for Oakville came via Joe Seney, who had two and Greg Allen, Daniel Jelic, Chris Poletek, Greg Campbell, Marcel Fatovic, and Austin Clapham, who contributed one a piece. Stouffville stifled Oakville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Spirit kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brendan McGlynn made 41 saves on 44 shots. Stouffville was helped by Peyton Backus, who had one goal. Backus scored short handed 10:00 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Spirit were on a disadvantage when Kyler Challis went off the ice for delay of game. Justin Wain assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Stouffville included Michael Carcone and Tyson Bruce, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Brady Baker and Andres Kopstals, who each chipped in one. Oakville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Daniel Mannella recorded 29 saves for Stouffville. The Spirit incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
