Kingston blows out Hamilton, 6-0

The Kingston Voyageurs had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-0 win over the Hamilton Red Wings.

Alex Tonge had two goals and two assists to lead Kingston. Tonge scored the first of his two goals at 19:13 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Kingston. Adam Brady provided the assist. Tonge's next tally made the score 4-0 Kingston with 18:47 left in the second period. Brett Seney picked up the assist.

The Voyageurs made Hamilton's goalies to work in net, totaling 44 shots and forcing 38 saves. Corey Foster made 10 stops and Mark Sinclair made 28. Kingston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Voyageurs' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Red Wings. Kingston allows 2.8 goals per game. The Voyageurs found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Kingston averages 3.5 goals per game.

Kingston also got points from Adam Moodie, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Brady, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Kingston also got a goal from Wyatt Cota as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Brett Du Puy, who had two and Spender Lee and Jarret Kup, who each chipped in one.

Hamilton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Voyageurs to score on any of their three power plays. The Red Wings could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Hamilton puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. The Red Wings' offense were handcuffed by Kingston's defensive play, and Hamilton managed only 14 shots on goal during the game.

Sam Tanguay made 14 saves for the Voyageurs on 14 shots. Kingston ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Voyageurs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cole Bolton was ejected from the game. The Red Wings ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Hamilton, Joel Knight was ejected from the game.
