North York wins tough contest against Georgetown, 4-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the North York Rangers escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Georgetown Raiders.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and John Carpino secured the win for North York with a goal in the third period.

The Rangers were led by Carpino, who finished with one goal. Carpino scored 5:21 into the third period to make the score 4-3 North York. Max APM Novik provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:20 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

North York stifled Georgetown's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

North York also got points from Fung Zachary, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Corey Kalk, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Liam Kerins, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, North York received assists from Kyle Thacker, who had one.

The the Raiders penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Georgetown surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Rangers were unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Georgetown eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Raiders were helped by Andrew Court, who registered one goal. Court scored 11:22 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Georgetown additionally got points from Steve Hladin, who also had one goal and one assist. Ryan Smith also scored for Georgetown. More assists for Georgetown came via Liam Clare and Phil Kiss, who each chipped in one.

North York's Jason Pucciarelli stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Rangers totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-8 on the power play. Team's Alex Leader, Jamie Wilson APM, and Tye Campbell were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Georgetown took out Michael Singh after he had made 14 saves and installed Michael McNiven in goal, where he finished with 12 saves and the loss. The Raiders registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. For Georgetown, Steve Midensky and Kyle Allan were ejected from the contest.
