Trenton blows out Aurora, 5-1

The Trenton Golden Hawks had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Aurora Tigers.

Trenton pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes.

The Golden Hawks were led by Shaquille Hickey, who finished with one goal and one assist. Hickey scored 8:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Mathew Thompson assisted on the tally.

Trenton additionally got points from Thompson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Trenton included Fabrizio Ricci, Dylan Savory, and Jason Zaleski, who each put in one. More assists for Trenton came via Danny Liscio, Nick Boddy, and Brady Wiffen, who contributed one a piece and Zach de Concilys and Tyler Sehovic, who each chipped in two.

Aurora was held below its usual level of production. The Tigers put an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. Aurora's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Tigers average 2.3 goals allowed per game.

Aurora was led by Calvin Higley, who scored the team's only goal. Higley scored on the power play 17:04 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. The Tigers earned a power play opportunity when Sehovic was put in the box for slashing. Kory Kennedy picked up the assist.

Trenton's Denny Dubblestyne stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Golden Hawks registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Aurora's starting goalie, Kevin Entmaa, made 22 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Andy Munroe, who stopped zero shots. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
