Aurora blows out Burlington, 7-0

The Aurora Tigers were firing on all cylinders against the Burlington Cougars, and when the final buzzer sounded Tigers emerged with a 7-0 win.

Aurora got the win behind a great game by Calvin Higley, who had two goals and one assist. Higley scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:39 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Aurora. The Tigers earned a power play opportunity when Ben Scheel was put in the box for tripping. Eric Williams picked up the assist. Higley's next tally on the power play made the score 6-0 Aurora with 4:40 left in the third period. Curtis Warren assisted on the tally.

Aurora stifled Burlington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Tigers' defensive effort looked to be improved. Aurora averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. The Cougars were unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and Aurora eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. The Tigers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Aurora has scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

Aurora additionally got points from Dylan Sikura, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Kory Kennedy, who also had one goal and one assist, and Warren, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Aurora also had goals scored by Drake Board and Alex Gilmour, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Taylor McCloy, who had two and Noah Delmas, Adam DiBrina, and Liam Neuman, who each chipped in one.

Burlington was held below its usual level of production. The Cougars put an average of 2.9 pucks into the net per game.

Kevin Entmaa made 22 saves for the Tigers on 22 shots. Aurora incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jeremy Currie recorded 37 saves for Burlington. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
