Nowak's goals lift Kingston to 5-2 victory over Whitby

Mason Nowak had two goals to lead the Kingston Voyageurs to a 5-2 victory over the Whitby Fury.

Nowak found the back of the net 5:57 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kingston and again while 18:30 into the third to make the score 4-2 Kingston.

Kingston stifled Whitby's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Voyageurs kept the Fury's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Feaver made 29 saves on 34 shots.

Kingston also got points from Brett Seney, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Alex Tonge, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Brandon O Quinn also scored for Kingston. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Spencer Green, who had two and Michael Crocock, Jarret Kup, and Michael Casale, who contributed one a piece.

Whitby's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kingston power plays. The Fury's offense operated below they season average. Whitby averages 4.2 goals per game. The Fury forced Kingston goalie Sam Tanguay to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Whitby was helped by Dakota Kettrick, who tallied one goal. Kettrick scored short handed 9:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kingston. The Fury found themselves down a man on Marcus Crawford's roughing after whistle. Troy Oakley provided the assist. Whitby also got a goal from Henry Thompson as well. In addition, Whitby received assists from Ryan Kirkup, Jeff Murray, and Alex Adams, who each chipped in one.

Tanguay rejected 31 shots on goal for the Voyageurs. Kingston incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Whitby incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
