Pickering uses shootout to best North York, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Pickering Panthers defeated the North York Rangers in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. In addition to the clincher, Pickering got a shootout goal from Nicholas Lepone.

The Panthers came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pickering was down 3-1 after a power play goal by North York's John Carpino at 3:00 in the third period. The Panthers knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Lepone at 13:01 in the third period.

The Rangers were unable to stop Pickering from sending pucks towards the net, and the Panthers eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Pickering additionally got points from Michael Walker, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Pickering received assists from Tanner Shaw, Sean Power, Ian Chen APM, and Keegan Ackerland, who contributed one a piece.

North York's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Pickering power plays. The Rangers' offense rang up 36 shots on Pickering's net.

North York also got a goal from Valadao Adam as well. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Liam Kerins, who had two and Corey Kalk, who had three.

The Panthers' Steven Dombrosky stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Pickering incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Panthers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Corey Helliwell was ejected from the game. Jason Pucciarelli made 34 saves for North York on 37 shots. The Rangers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For North York, Power Brody was ejected from the game.
