Nathan Perry was superb between the pipes for the Cobourg Cougars, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Burlington Cougars. Cobourg got the win on the strength of a great game by Connor Armour, who had one goal and two assists. Armour scored on the power play 1:08 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Cobourg. The Cougars had gained a power play chance when Riley Dunda was whistled for holding. Taylor Gauld picked up the assist. Cobourg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes. The Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Burlington power plays. Cobourg was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Cougars average 2.4 goals allowed per game. Cobourg forced Burlington goalie Jeremy Currie to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Cobourg also got points from Stuart King, who also had one goal and one assist. Cobourg also got a goal from Liam Grande as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Alex D Oliveira, who had one. The Cougars could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Burlington puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. Perry rejected 25 shots on goal for the Cougars. Cobourg registered one goal on zero power play opportunities. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kenzie Smith was ejected from the game. The Cougars' Currie stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Burlington incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
