Stouffville downs St. Michaels in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Stouffville Spirit pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the St. Michaels Buzzers on a clutch goal by Justin Wain.

Stouffville's Daniel Mannella was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Mannella certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.97 entering the contest.

The Spirit pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Christopher Brill-Morgan also scored for Stouffville. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Andres Kopstals, who had two and Matthew Heffernan and Michael Carcone, who contributed one a piece.

St. Michaels was held below its usual level of production. The Buzzers put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. St. Michaels' offense rang up 35 shots on Stouffville's net. The Buzzers had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 10 chances.

St. Michaels was led by Matt Alvaro, who scored the team's only goal. Alvaro scored on the power play 8:11 into the second period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels. The Buzzers had gained a power play chance when Graham Pickard was whistled for hooking.

The Spirit registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For Stouffville, Dakota Redshaw and Joseph Deveny were ejected from the contest. Victor Adamo recorded 26 saves for St. Michaels. The Buzzers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
