Pickering erases deficit to stun Newmarket, 6-5

The Newmarket Hurricanes could not hold down the Pickering Panthers, and Panthers erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 6-5 win.

Pickering never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Panthers trailed 3-0 after a goal by Newmarket's Brycin Morrison at 12:04 in the first period. Pickering tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Brodie Tutton at 43 seconds in the third period. The Panthers got the game winner at 3:34 in the third period on a goal by Tutton.

Pickering got the win thanks to a great game by Tutton, who had two goals and one assist.

The Panthers kept the Hurricanes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Bo Bessette made 39 saves on 45 shots. Pickering surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Panthers have scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign. Pickering was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

Pickering also got points from Mike Nedoszytko, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Pickering included Robert Cammalleri, Mark Tenuta, and Nicholas Lepone, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Michael Walker, who had three and Tanner Shaw and Michael Giacometti, who each chipped in one.

Newmarket forced the Panthers goalie Steven Dombrosky to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Dombrosky rejected 30 shots on goal for Pickering. The Panthers incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Pickering ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cam Palmer was ejected from the game. The Hurricanes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
