Kingston squeaks by St. Michaels, 5-3

The Kingston Voyageurs and the St. Michaels Buzzers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Kingston made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Brody Heleno's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Heleno had two goals to lead the Voyageurs to victory.

Kingston's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three St. Michaels power plays. St. Michaels was unable to stop the Voyageurs from sending pucks towards the net, and Kingston eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Kingston included Mason Nowak, Adam Moodie, and Adam Brady, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Cole Bolton, who had three and Blake ONeill, Michael Crocock, Brett Seney, Brandon O Quinn, Alex Tonge, and Brett Du Puy, who each chipped in one.

The Buzzers forced the Voyageurs goalie Alex Brooks-Potts to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

St. Michaels was helped by CJ Shugart, who had one goal. Shugart scored 7:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels. David Italiano provided the assist. St. Michaels also got points from Italiano, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Angelpooulos Peter also scored for St. Michaels. More assists for St. Michaels came via Marco Ferraro, Thomas Beretta, Matt Alvaro, and Bron Loiselle, who contributed one a piece.

Alex Brooks-Potts made 41 saves for Kingston on 44 shots. The Voyageurs incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. George Argiropoulos rejected 41 shots on goal for the Buzzers. St. Michaels incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Buzzers, Nick Iafrate and Beretta were ejected from the contest.
