Spivak's big game bests North York in 6-3 Toronto win

Aaron Spivak had two goals and one assist to lead the Toronto Junior Canadiens to a 6-3 victory over the North York Rangers.

Spivak found the back of the net on the power play 35 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Toronto and again while 15:06 into the third to make the score 5-1 Toronto.

North York was unable to stop Toronto from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Canadiens eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Toronto found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Junior Canadiens average 3.4 goals per contest. Team could not crack the Rangers' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 11 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Toronto additionally got points from Jake Walman, who also registered one goal and one assist and Connor Prudames, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Toronto also had goals scored by Luca Farrace and Daniel Volpe, who scored one goal each. In addition, Toronto received assists from Will Lawrence and Nicholas Jarzabek, who contributed one a piece and Cody Thompson, Daniel Harquail, and Anthony Repaci, who each chipped in two.

North York forced Toronto goalie Nathan Colitto to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. The Rangers were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 56 penalty minutes.

North York was helped by Liam Kerins, who finished with one goal. Kerins scored 18:05 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Toronto. Valadao Adam assisted on the tally. Others who scored for North York included Fung Zachary and John Carpino, who each put in one. More assists for North York came via Alex Leader, who had one and Kyle Thacker, who had two.

Colitto rejected 43 shots on goal for the Junior Canadiens. Toronto incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Gianluca Baggetta recorded 36 saves for the Rangers. North York registered two goals on two power play opportunities. The Rangers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Leader was ejected from the game.
