Wellington vanquishes Lindsay in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)Lindsay Recreation Centre Fri, Nov 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wellington Dukes defeated the Lindsay Muskies in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured five attempts between both teams. Lindsay got a shootout goal from Joseph Vocino. Wellington also got a shootout goal from Steven Deeg.The Dukes overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Wellington was down 2-1 after a goal by the Muskies' Logan DeNoble at 13:46 in the second period. The Dukes tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Spencer Turcotte at 4:22 in the third period. Wellington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Dukes' offense rang up 50 shots on Lindsay's net. Wellington was helped by Abbot Girduckis, who registered one goal. Girduckis scored 11:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Joe McKeown assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Chad Thibodeau and Andrew McCann, who each chipped in one. The Muskies kept the Dukes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Wood made 31 saves on 33 shots. Stefan Von Egelbrechten also scored for Lindsay. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Jake Ryan, who had two and Austin Brown and Bryce Sweeting, who contributed one a piece. Wellington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Branden Francey recorded 47 saves for Lindsay. The Muskies incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
