North York beats Buffalo 4-2 after comeback scare

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the North York Rangers held on for a 4-2 victory.

North York made the score 4-0 on a goal by Corey Kalk at 50 seconds in the second period, and Buffalo got as close as 4-2 when Nolan Sheeran scored 4:41 into the third period.

Liam Kerins was all over the ice for the Rangers, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Kerins scored 4:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North York. John Carpino provided the assist.

The Jr. Sabres were unable to stop North York from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

North York also got points from Valadao Adam, who also had one goal and two assists and Carpino, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, North York received assists from Fung Zachary, who had one.

Buffalo did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jr. Sabres average 4.7 goals per game. Buffalo kept North York's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Pucciarelli made 31 saves on 33 shots.

Jason Heerdt also scored for Buffalo. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Ben Casale, who had one and Pat Egan, who had two.

The Rangers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Joseph Pianta made 37 saves for the Jr. Sabres on 41 shots. Buffalo finished the contest with no penalties and went 1-for-3 with the man advantage.
