Aurora wins tough contest against Wellington, 4-3Wellington CC Sun, Nov 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Aurora Tigers and the Wellington Dukes were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Aurora made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Calvin Higley's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Higley had a great game for the Tigers, netting two goals. Aurora's offense rang up 37 shots on Wellington's net. Aurora also got points from Robert Angiolella, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jake Gilmour also scored for Aurora. More assists for Aurora came via Taylor McCloy, Dylan Sikura, and Kory Kennedy, who each chipped in one. The Dukes were led by Abbot Girduckis, who finished with two goals. Girduckis scored the first of his two goals at 10:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Aurora. Joe McKeown picked up the assist. Girduckis' next tally made the score 3-3 with 5:22 left in the second period. Wellington had gotten the advantage when the Tigers' Drake Board was sent off for slashing. Kyle Paat provided the assist. Wellington also got a goal from Josh Supryka as well. In addition, Wellington received assists from Andrew Coupland, Luc Brown, Mike Soucier, and Andrew McCann, who contributed one a piece. Andy Munroe recorded 25 saves for Aurora. The Tigers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tyson Teichmann rejected 33 shots on goal for the Dukes. Wellington incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
