Toronto Lakeshore squeaks by Toronto, 4-2

The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Toronto Junior Canadiens.

Toronto Lakeshore gained the winning advantage on a goal by Marcus Rose 5:22 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Patriots pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Toronto Lakeshore was sparked by Rose, who grabbed one goal.

The Patriots' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Toronto power plays. Toronto was unable to stop Toronto Lakeshore from sending pucks towards the net, and the Patriots eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Toronto Lakeshore additionally got points from Doug Bonar, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Kevin Shier, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Quinn Syrydiuk, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Toronto Lakeshore received assists from Michael Prapavessis, who had two and Cory Laver, Tyler Enns, and Jacob Hayhurst, who contributed one a piece.

The Junior Canadiens forced Toronto Lakeshore goalie Mark Manolescu to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Toronto was helped by Will Lawrence, who grabbed one goal. Lawrence scored 6:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Toronto. Mark Spadafora also scored for Toronto. More assists for Toronto came via Aaron Thow and Michael Cuddemi, who each chipped in one.

The Patriots' Manolescu stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Toronto Lakeshore registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Nathan Colitto rejected 32 shots on goal for the Junior Canadiens. Toronto incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Junior Canadiens, Daniel Harquail was ejected from the game.
