Cobourg wins tough contest against Lindsay, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Cobourg Cougars escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Lindsay Muskies.

Cobourg gained the winning advantage on a goal by Mitchell Gibson APJ 1:56 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Connor Armour was all over the ice for the Cougars, as he racked up two goals in the win. Armour found the back of the net on the power play 12:32 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 3:20 into the second to make the score 3-1 Cobourg.

Cobourg kept Lindsay's goalie busy throughout the game, and Branden Francey made 29 saves on 32 shots.

More assists for Cobourg came via Stuart King, who had two and Landon Schiller, Mason Marchment, and Mark MacAulay, who each chipped in one.

The Muskies were helped by Peter Barral, who finished with one goal. Barral scored 10:50 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Cobourg. Vince Herlihey provided the assist. Lindsay additionally got points from Herlihey, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Bryan Hignett, who had one and Joseph Vocino, who had two.

Mathieu Ouellet rejected 21 shots on goal for the Cougars. Cobourg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lindsay incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
