Oakville hangs on, beats North York 3-1

The Oakville Blades took the lead against the North York Rangers in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory.

A goal 19:50 into the the first period by Dalton Bew proved to be the game winner, and powered Oakville to the victory The Blades found themselves down a man on David Dischiavi's hooking. Greg Campbell provided the assist.

North York was stymied by Oakville netminder Evan Buitenhuis, who stopped 34 shots during the victory. Buitenhuis managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.85 prior to the game.

The Blades were sparked by Bew, who finished with one goal and one assist.

Oakville stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blades kept North York's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Pucciarelli made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Kamil Tkaczuk also scored for Oakville. Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Vince Palermo, who had one and Sean Perichak, who had two.

The Rangers could not produce up to they normal offensive output. North York puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Oakville was unable to stop the Rangers from sending pucks towards the net, and North York eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Rangers were led by Liam Kerins, who scored the team's only goal. Kerins scored 6:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York. Valadao Adam picked up the assist.

The Blades incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Oakville, Ross Sloan was ejected from the game. North York incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Rangers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Corey Kalk was ejected from the game.
