Baggetta leads North York to shutout victory over Kingston

Gianluca Baggetta was superb between the pipes for the North York Rangers, as he did not allow a goal in a 5-0 victory over the Kingston Voyageurs.

North York got the win with help from a great game by John Carpino, who had one goal and two assists. Carpino scored 6:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York. Liam Kerins assisted on the tally.

Kingston's power play was ineffective against the Rangers' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

North York excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Rangers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as North York finished with 34 penalty minutes.

North York additionally got points from Valadao Adam, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Kerins, who also finished with three goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, North York received assists from Max Novick, who had one and Patrick Piacentini and Fung Zachary, who contributed two a piece.

The the Voyageurs penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Kingston surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Voyageurs could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Kingston averages 2.8 goals per game.

Baggetta recorded 27 saves for the Rangers. North York registered three goals on nine power play opportunities. Alex Brooks-Potts took the loss and made seven saves before being replaced by Ethan Wood who made 16 saves. For the Voyageurs, Jaylor Gorman was ejected from the game.
