In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the North York Rangers escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Wellington Dukes. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Matthew Whittaker secured the win for North York with a goal in the third period. The Rangers were paced by Whittaker, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Whittaker scored 18:33 into the third period to make the score 3-2 North York. Fung Zachary picked up the assist. North York also got points from Gabriel Valenzuela, who also registered one goal and one assist. Valadao Adam also scored for North York. In addition, North York received assists from Jeremy Szabo and John Carpino, who each chipped in one. Wellington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow North York to score on any of its six power plays. The Rangers were unable to stop the Dukes from sending pucks towards the net, and Wellington eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Dukes were helped by Steven Deeg, who had one goal. Deeg scored on the power play 17:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Wellington had taken the advantage when North York's Alex Leader got sent off for hooking. Trevor Cope provided the assist. Wellington additionally got points from Cope, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Abbot Girduckis and Joe McKeown, who contributed one a piece. Gianluca Baggetta rejected 29 shots on goal for the Rangers. North York incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Dukes' Lucas Machalski stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Wellington incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
