Perry stymies Aurora, Cobourg wins 5-1

Nathan Perry had a standout game with 28 saves, and the Cobourg Cougars beat the Aurora Tigers 5-1.

Cobourg was sparked by Alex D Oliveira, who racked up one goal. D Oliveira scored on the power play 9:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cobourg. A hooking penalty on Curtis Warren had put the Cougars on the power play. Jake Emilio provided the assist.

Cobourg put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Aurora to score on any of its three power plays. The Cougars found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Cobourg averages 2.8 goals per game.

Cobourg additionally got points from Mitchell Gibson APJ, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cobourg also got a goal from Landon Schiller as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Kenzie Smith, Taylor Gauld, and Mark MacAulay, who each chipped in one.

The Tigers could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Aurora puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game.

The Tigers were led by Dylan Sikura, who scored the team's only goal. Sikura scored 13:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cobourg. Taylor McCloy picked up the assist.

The Cougars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kevin Entmaa recorded 20 saves for Aurora. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
