Trenton vanquishes Stouffville in shootout, 6-5 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Trenton Golden Hawks defeated the Stouffville Spirit in a shootout 6-5 (3-2 SO).

The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. Stouffville's shootout goals were scored by Michael Morgan and Nick Thomakos. In addition to the clincher, Trenton got shootout goals from Zach de Concilys and Danny Liscio.

Fabrizio Ricci was all over the ice for the Golden Hawks, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Ricci scored 1:14 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Trenton. Brett Seldon assisted on the tally.

Trenton's penalty kill excelled, as the Golden Hawks gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The Spirit were unable to stop Trenton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Golden Hawks eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Trenton's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Trenton also got points from Chrisitian Lloyd, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Brady Wiffen, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Trenton also got a goal from de Concilys as well. More assists for Trenton came via Hunter Fargey, who had two and Tyler Mayea, Tyler Donaldson, and Jason Zaleski, who each chipped in one.

Stouffville forced the Golden Hawks goalie Emerson Verrier to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Spirit were led by Tyson Bruce, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Bruce scored the first of his two goals at 17:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Michael Carcone picked up the assist. Bruce's next tally made the score 4-4 with 10:51 left in the third period. Stouffville had gained a power play chance when Lloyd was whistled for handling the puck. Carcone provided the assist. Morgan also scored for Stouffville. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Matthew Heffernan, Peyton Backus, and Kyler Challis, who contributed one a piece.

Verrier recorded 28 saves for Trenton. The Golden Hawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Spirit's Tim Bester stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Stouffville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
