Burlington rips Trenton, 7-3

The Burlington Cougars were firing on all cylinders against the Trenton Golden Hawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Cougars emerged with a 7-3 win.

Burlington got the win with help from a great game by Tyler Lepore, who had one goal and three assists. Lepore scored 9:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Burlington. Ryan Wilkinson provided the assist.

The Cougars surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Burlington averages 3.4 goals per game.

Burlington additionally got points from Wilkinson, who also registered two goals and two assists. Burlington also had goals scored by Steven Mueller, who had two and Jordan Brown and Riley Dunda, who each put in one. In addition, Burlington received assists from Neil Aird, who had one.

Trenton forced the Cougars goalie Devin Tappendan to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

The Golden Hawks were helped by Hunter Fargey, who racked up one goal. Fargey scored 2:04 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Burlington. Tyler Donaldson picked up the assist. Trenton also got points from Donaldson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Zach de Concilys also scored for Trenton. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Tyler Mayea, Danny Liscio, Jason Zaleski, Tyler Sehovic, and Ryan Kinsella, who each chipped in one.

Burlington's Tappendan stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Cougars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Trenton's starting goalie, Denny Dubblestyne, made five saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Emerson Verrier, who stopped six shots. The Golden Hawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
