Laidley's goals lift Aurora to 4-1 victory over Toronto

Aurora Community Centre    Fri, Nov 01, 2013

Michael Laidley had two goals to lead the Aurora Tigers to a 4-1 victory over the Toronto Junior Canadiens.

Laidley scored at 18:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aurora and again while 11:25 into the third to make the score 4-1 Aurora.

Toronto's power play was ineffective against Aurora's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Junior Canadiens were unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and Aurora eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Aurora also got a goal from Calvin Higley as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Dylan Sikura, who had two and Taylor McCloy, Drake Board, Noah Delmas, Kory Kennedy, Curtis Warren, and Adam Power, who contributed one a piece.

Toronto did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Junior Canadiens average 3.2 goals per game.

Toronto was led by Daniel Volpe, who scored the team's only goal. Volpe scored on the power play 8:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto. The Junior Canadiens had gained a power play chance when Mihkel Poldma was whistled for hooking. Ryan MacSpadyen assisted on the tally.

Kevin Entmaa recorded 22 saves for the Tigers. Aurora incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Toronto's Nathan Colitto stopped 40 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Junior Canadiens incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Toronto ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and MacSpadyen was ejected from the game.
