North York rips Orangeville, 8-2

The Orangeville Flyers had trouble finding ways to stop the North York Rangers, which beat Flyers, 8-2.

North York got the win with help from a great game by Liam Kerins, who had two goals and one assist. Kerins scored the first of his two goals at 11:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York. Fung Zachary picked up the assist. Kerins' next tally made the score 3-0 North York with 19:32 left in the second period. Zachary provided the assist.

The Rangers kept Orangeville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Taylor Welsh made 39 saves on 47 shots. North York outdid its season average for goals scored. The Rangers average 3.4 goals per game.

North York additionally got points from Valadao Adam, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Brandon Ku (APM), who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Aric Smith (AMP), who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North York included Louis Kereakou and Tye Campbell, who scored one goal each. In addition, North York received assists from Jeremy Szabo, who had one and Gabriel Valenzuela and Michael Giacometti, who each chipped in three.

The Flyers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Orangeville had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Gianluca Baggetta rejected 28 shots on goal for North York. The Rangers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Flyers registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Orangeville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Angelpooulos Peter was ejected from the game.
