Washkurak, Mississauga blank Pickering, 3-0

Austin Washkurak made 28 saves to complete the shutout and led the Mississauga Chargers to a 3-0 win against the Pickering Panthers.

Mississauga was paced by Ryan Hunter, who had one goal. Hunter scored on the power play 5:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississauga. A tripping penalty on Sean Power had put the Chargers on the power play. Nicholas Palumbo provided the assist.

Mississauga put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pickering to score on any of its five power plays.

Mississauga also got points from Palumbo, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Stefano Alonzi as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Alex Mills, Jackson Howe, and Cory Hyashi, who contributed one a piece.

The Panthers' offense operated below they season average. Pickering averages 2.6 goals per game.

The Chargers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Steven Dombrosky recorded 16 saves for the Panthers. Pickering incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Panthers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michael Walker was ejected from the game.
