Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Mississauga Chargers defeated the Orangeville Flyers in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured 12 attempts between both teams. Orangeville got a shootout goal from Keegan Ackerland. In addition to the clincher, Mississauga got a shootout goal from Ryan Hunter.The Chargers came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Mississauga trailed 3-0 after a goal by the Flyers' Nicholas Baratto at 12:21 in the first period. The Chargers knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jackson Howe at 15:02 in the third period. Stefano Alonzi was all over the ice for Mississauga, as he registered two goals in the win. Alonzi found the back of the net 2:04 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Orangeville and again while 3:14 into the third to make the score 3-2 Orangeville. Mississauga additionally got points from Howe, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Alex Mills, who had one and Cory Hyashi, who had three. Orangeville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Flyers kept the Chargers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Austin Washkurak made 31 saves on 34 shots. Orangeville was helped by Angelpooulos Peter, who grabbed one goal. Peter scored 9:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Orangeville. Ackerland provided the assist. Orangeville also got points from Devon Gillham, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Lucas Smilsky, who had two and Jake Derkach and Mathew Thompson, who contributed one a piece. Mississauga incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Taylor Welsh recorded 23 saves for the Flyers. Orangeville incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
