Aurora's McCloy deadly on offense in 6-3 win against Whitby

Taylor McCloy had four goals to lead the Aurora Tigers to a 6-3 victory over the Whitby Fury.

McCloy's first goal came 1:48 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:56 into the first, at 18:36 into the second, and at 7:15 into the third.

Aurora forced Whitby's goalies to work between the pipes, launching 33 shots and forcing 27 saves. Boyd Diclemente made 20 stops and Tyler Feaver made seven. The Tigers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Aurora averages 3.9 goals per game.

Aurora additionally got points from Kory Kennedy, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from Calvin Higley as well. In addition, Aurora received assists from Noah Delmas, who had two, Dylan Sikura, who had three, and Michael Laidley, Eric Williams, and Robert Angiolella, who contributed one a piece.

The Fury's offense rang up 39 shots on the Tigers' net. Whitby's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Fury finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Whitby was led by Greg Milner, who had one goal and two assists. Milner scored on the power play 13:29 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Aurora. The Fury had gained a power play chance when McCloy was whistled for slashing. Mitch Emerson provided the assist. Taylor Best also scored for Whitby. More assists for Whitby came via Marcus Crawford, Jonathan OHara, and Jeff Murray, who each chipped in one.

Andy Munroe made 36 saves for Aurora on 39 shots. The Tigers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Whitby registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. The Fury ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Murray was ejected from the game.
