Wellington rolls over Mississauga, 6-2Port Credit Arena Sat, Oct 19, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mississauga Chargers had trouble finding ways to stop the Wellington Dukes, which beat Chargers, 6-2. Mississauga's 12 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Chargers let up five goals while on the penalty kill. Wellington was led by Steven Deeg, who had one goal. Deeg scored on the power play 5:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. The Dukes had gotten the advantage when Mississauga's Aaron Dutra was sent off for hooking. Erick Delaurentis provided the assist. Wellington's offense rang up 53 shots on the Chargers' net. The Dukes bested their season scoring average. This season, Wellington averages 3.9 goals per contest. Wellington also got points from Delaurentis, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Justin Bean also scored for Wellington. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Andrew McCann, who had three, Andrew Coupland, Luc Brown, and Kyle Paat, who each chipped in one, and Mike Soucier and Cody Gratton, who contributed two a piece. Mississauga racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. The Chargers surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Mississauga was led by Vince Figliomeni, who tallied one goal and one assist. Figliomeni scored 8:13 into the third period to make the score 5-2 Wellington. Nicholas Palumbo picked up the assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Cory Hyashi as well. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Mark Rowe and Thomas Lattavo, who each chipped in one. Adam Wood recorded 20 saves for the Dukes. Wellington incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Chargers' Alex Lepore stopped 47 shots out of the 53 that he faced. Mississauga registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Team's Jacob Harrison and Tyler Cooper were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
